The new GLS will mix luxury with hi-tech

Mercedes-Maybach customers will enjoy some of the most advanced systems in the automotive world, in order to justify at least some of the ridiculous price tags for the cars.

One such system will be a next-level suspension system based on the existing Magic Body Control, according to Maybach chief engineer Jürgen Weissinger, cited by Autocar. This new suspension will use information from a camera system in order to have better information on the type of roads the car travels on. There will also be a new emphasis on ultimate luxury aimed at chauffeurs.

“We’re making a special drive programme, which means the gearchanges don’t happen too often so that the chauffeur can drive in a very comfortable, luxury way. This works without gearshifts and with maximum torque,” said Weissinger.

The new suspension is expected to be introduced on the new Maybach GLS, that will be unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show in November this year. There will also be a drive towards electric and hybrid cars even for Maybach, as rivals are already looking into this kind of technology, and customers are interested in what the future might look like.
