Seat’s largest SUV will debut next month

September 18 is the date Seat chose for the debut of its largest SUV yet. The new Tarraco will be presented to the world in Tarragona.

The upcoming Tarraco SUV will slot above the likes of Arona and Ateca not just in terms of size but also price-wise. Not much info is not available at this time, but we can still tell you a couple of things about the new Tarraco.

For starters, its architecture will be very similar, if identical, to what can be found underneath the Skoda Kodiaq. As most of you know, the Kodiaq is underpinned by VW Group’s extremely flexible MQB platform.

Subsequently, the engine lineup might also be a reflection of the one available for the Czech SUV, as we could be looking at a mix of 1.4-liter, 2-liter petrol engines and 2-liter turbodiesels. A plug-in hybrid variant could also happen, but not at launch.

Although the Tarraco won't be your typical go-to off-roading weapon of choice, all-wheel drive might be available as an option for those looking for extra grip and stability in the wet. The most likely choices when it comes to transmission are a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Interior-wise, expect a similar cabin design to what the Arona and Ateca hold, but stretched to larger proportions.

As for the exterior, well, we think the new Seat Tarraco will look pretty much like the rendering above, give or take.

What’s your say on the subject?
