Abarth 124 GT leaves its carbon-fiber hat on in Geneva

Promises to also retain its feistiness

The brand with the Scorpion badge is coming to Geneva 2018 with a special edition for the 124 roadster – one that's said to combine two personalities.

What Abarth really wants to highlight is the addition of a hardtop weighing 16 kilos, made entirely out of carbon fiber that's, according to the Italians, both "light-weight and safe." Oh, and it can also be removed in about three minutes, according to the same press blurb.

Even more, the Abarth 124 GT will stand out in the crowd courtesy of the Alpi Orientali Grey body color, 17-inch OZ Ultra-Light alloy rims (three kilos lighter than the standard offering) and an optional matte hood, which sends us dreaming about the vintage Abarth 124 Rally.

As an option, Abarth can fit your 124 GT with a carbon-fiber rear spoiler.

Elsewhere, the car's credentials remain similar to what the run-of-the-mill Abarth 124 has to offer, including the 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine making 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque.

Under these coordinates, the Abarth 124 GT sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 232 km/h. Mated with the engine is either a six-speed manual or the Esseesse sequential gearbox.
