Because you can never go wrong with black

GMC will bring to the New York Auto Show two special edition models based on its Acadia and Terrain SUVs. The Black Edition moniker leaves little to the imagination, as it designates the SUV's blacked-out appearance for which customers apparently have a specific desire, according to GMC.

Available on SLE and SLT models, the 2019 GMC Terrain Black Edition features 19-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, darkened grille insert and black surround, black mirror caps, roof rails, and additional exterior accents, as well as black exterior model and trim badging.

Surprisingly, GMC doesn't offer it in black only. Besides the Ebony Twilight Metallic paintwork, customers can also have the Terrain Black Edition in Summit White, Graphite Gray Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic and Sedona Metallic.

As for the 2019 Acadia Black Edition, it's available on SLT trims and sports 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with black accents, black grille insert and black surround, black headlight and taillight details, as well as black mirror caps, roof rails, and additional exterior accents.

The Acadia is also offered in five exterior colors: Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, White Frost Tricoat, Dark Sky Metallic and Smokey Quartz Metallic.

There's no mention of any interior or mechanical upgrades. The 2019 GMC Acadia comes with a standard 193-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2019 GMC Terrain's standard engine is a 170-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder linked to a nine-speed auto.

The 2019 GMC Terrain and Acadia Black Editions will be available this summer across the United States.
